Local Tourist Information Centres and Shops

Middleport Pottery

Port St, Middleport, Stoke-on-Trent ST6 3PE, UK – 01782 499766

Such a fantastic place to visit. Steeped in history and filled with great things to see. At certain times in the year they will have the old steam engine running that drives the bone mill, check their website for times and other events. This year they host a special event , displaying the amazing China poppies installation that was installed at the Tower of London . This will be an amazing sight.

An interesting tour - you get entrance to the heritage centre as part of this. You’re up next to workers as they work and this is amazing. They’re very skilled and happy to have you watch. Fun factory shop with plenty of seconds which pleases the thrifty side of me. It’s a traditional factory and you can explore the social history of the area with your tour guide who was happy to answer the group’s questions. A reasonably priced cafe is on site.

Westport Lake Visitor Centre

Westport Lake Visitor Centre, Westport Lake Road, Stoke-on-Trent ST6 4RZ, UK – 01782 826985

Great for families with having an enclosed playground. The lake itself is a lively setting for having a walk around. There is a visitor centre with a small cafe with a small selection of food and drinks, there is local information on wildlife, toilets and an outdoor seating on a balcony overlooking the lake. There is ample car parking spaces. I took the kids there while my wife was teaching free buggy fit classes on the open grass areas.

Love it here. Lovely walks around the lake and by the canal. Nice cafe and the ice cream man is always there with his delicious ice cream. Delightful play are for children.

Moorcroft Pottery

Sandbach Rd, Stoke ST6 2DQ, UK – 01782 820500

Lovely factory with warm, friendly staff. The museum is small but a complete record of their history and is free to look around. The bottle oven is well maintained and there are lots of historical pieces amongst the lovely displays that are in their original Liberty London cabinets. Well worth a quick stop if passing. There is a coffee machine and water machine for public use. Factory tours can be arranged with advance notice. It is also the base for many of the Moorcroft Club events.

Beautiful shop full of the most exquisit pottery.the staff are very helpful and know what they are talking about.

Local Parks & Gardens

Burslem Park

182 Moorland Rd, Stoke-on-Trent ST6 1EB, UK

Love this place. We can spend hours here during summer. Just wish the play area was better for the kids.

Love this park well kept always looked after rubbish picked up on daily basis

Victoria Park

Victoria Park Rd, Stoke-on-Trent ST6 6DX, UK

Nice park. Good to take your kids. Got a small cafe in site and toilets. Only really been visiting as wife teaches buggy fit once a week there on a Tue 10am. Central forest park better though overall if you have the kids.

Duck pond and larger 'lake' are sadly full of rubbish and there are no areas for the ducks to raise ducklings that children can't easily walk through. All the picnic benches in the shaded area next to the play area are broken. Otherwise good park, would be lovely if maintained. There are lots of ducks, swans, moorhens, canadian geese, squirrels and dragonflies to see. There is a separate fenced off play area for toddlers. The zipline is more suited to teenagers as younger kids are too small to get on themselves. There are sports courts, large grass areas and a bankstand too.
